how do you hang a pool table light?
I know the height and have everything ready to go...my only question is how to physically mount it to the ceiling...what hardware to use okay, where the light will currently line up, one side of it will go into the stud/joist, but the other side currently goes into the drywall. I do not have an attic (houses in vegas don't like them for some reason) and I cannot get into the attic to assist. Knowing that, on the side where it is mounted on the drywall, how would you mount it?

What is the best color to paint a living room with light color hardwood floors and a dark stain pool
30'X15': So long and skinny. Floors are light hardwood, pool table is dark stained, room is white right now and there is a west facing plate glass window. Not sure what color would help bring out the hardwood floors and table the best, everything else in the room can be changed. Also thinking about doing crown molding, any suggestions?

Wanting a swag pool table light...?
I am wanting to buy my dad a new swag pool table light for Christmas because the one he had for nearly 20 years finally bit the dust. Having trouble finding a swag light. Most are hanging lights that I will have to wire into the ceiling, or have beer logos, which he hates. I found one I think he would be happy with, and it says it will plug in instead of hard wire if you have the proper adapter. I just don't know what kind of adapter we're talking about here. I found a "swag light kit" and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is what I need to keep from having to install it into the ceiling. And if not, what kind of adapter do I need to look for? Las Vegas Themed Party?
Throwing a Vegas theme surprise birthday party and need help with decor ideas, lights and invites. It has to be ultra glam, and not in the least tacky. Cannot work with mirrors, posters, cutouts or pictures. Have three poker tables and one pool table at hand. Should we serve sheesha/hukkah or no? How should the lights be? And the seating? There can be no balloons, no hangings, nothing. Should there be a smoke machine? The place booked has a red carpet though. And the invites are a major problem since we need to convey there its a vegas themed party with an open bar without mentioning anything at all on the invites. Invites need to be sexy and classy. Indecisive and muddled. Help.

I switched to energy saving compact-flourescent lights. What do I do with all the incandescent bulb
Those traditional incandescent light bulbs are still good, but waste electricity. Its seems a shame to waste them, and I don't want to encourage other people to keep on using them by giving them away.

How do I install Ikea track lighting where traditional track lighting existed previously?
My apartment formerly had traditional track lighting, but now all that's left is a live end connector sticking out of the wall (not sure if it's H, J, or L standard); even the track itself is gone. I'm thinking of purchasing Ikea's "Termosfar" track lighting system to use at the same location but am not sure how to figure out what additional parts will be needed to install the low-voltage Ikea system into the existing infrastructure. Help! :-)

What provides more natural light, traditional Skylight or Solar Tubes?
I debating whether to get a 18" solar tube in my kitchen/dining room that is rated to provide about the equivalent of 10 100watt light bulbs OR getting a 2X4 traditional skylight cut out. Which will provide me more light? The traditional skylight is about double the solar tubes.

ive been thinking of opening a club for teens in my area is it a good idea?
there is nothing for teens 14-19 to do where i live, and when i was one a few years ago i loved things like this. but they were all managed by the wrong people (alcohol or money laundering). the popluation is around 26,000 with around 90,000 in the county. i have a few police officer friends which could provide off duty security. i would provide non-alco specialty drinks, food, music, lights, lounge area, pool tables, among other things. i have friends with siblings still in high school that could advertise for me. there would be a very strict set of rules to follow or be kicked out. if security believes your intoxicated your out. i need a parents view on this and teens view. everyone so far has been all for it any questions ask muskingum co. ohio

Making a spinning pool/billiard table?
I'm going to make a spinning pool table for my major work in year 12. I have a few questions to ask just before I go ahead with the design. Firstly, are there any other lighter bases I could use that wouldn't warp, preferable possible order to size. Secondly, What material should I use as an axel. I was thinking a steel rod attached to the inner playing area and base which will spin on 2 holes on the frame. And finally, What are some nice strong hardwoods that wont bend or break that I can use for the frame, I will either have to add metal bars to support the frame or get some sort of REALLY strong wood because im expecting the inside part to weight up to 400-500KG. Anything you can help with is much appreciated
My first question would be... Why? See More
