Any other companies who might have traditional down lights for a cottage Kitchen (not looking to pay the earth)

Those traditional incandescent light bulbs are still good, but waste electricity. Its seems a shame to waste them, and I don't want to encourage other people to keep on using them by giving them away.

My apartment formerly had traditional track lighting, but now all that's left is a live end connector sticking out of the wall (not sure if it's H, J, or L standard); even the track itself is gone. I'm thinking of purchasing Ikea's "Termosfar" track lighting system to use at the same location but am not sure how to figure out what additional parts will be needed to install the low-voltage Ikea system into the existing infrastructure. Help! :-)

do blinking christmas lights save money over "always on" traditional lights? Is it possible that it takes more energy during the initial lighting up process?

I debating whether to get a 18" solar tube in my kitchen/dining room that is rated to provide about the equivalent of 10 100watt light bulbs OR getting a 2X4 traditional skylight cut out. Which will provide me more light? The traditional skylight is about double the solar tubes.

I know CFLs are the alternative to traditional incandescent light bulbs, but is there another option to CFLs? I heard LED light bulbs are, but is that true?

Do can lights ruin the look because they look so modern? If I use them, I'll add some more farmhouse-looking ceiling lights in the center of each room.

My vote is for traditional. LED use very little energy and are much safer to use but they are too large, ugly, and light up an entire room because they are so bright. I've never had a problem I couldn't handle with my traditional lights. Replacing a light bulb isn't that big of a deal. The tree looks nice with a soft glow to it. I'm sure there are pro's and con's to both. What is your opinion? Pfft. Thanks Monkey. I have traditional bulb ceilng lights wholse through my house. I want to replace it with halogen lights. I got the quotation of £70 per light to install. Do you think it's a fair quotation? If not, how much should I look at? In order to cover 3x10m through lounge how much would it cost?
